DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL
The primary purpose and function of this position is to provide support and assistance to participants to meet the health needs, individual needs, preferences, rights and make informed choices and decisions.
Basic Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid drivers’ license, good driving record
- Ability to obtain Chauffeur’s License within 2 weeks of employment
- Ability to pass Medication Administration Aide I , CPR and 1st aid training
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
- Ability to drive 15-passenger vans
- Willingness to use personal car (dependent upon program working in)/ proof of car insurance if using personal car
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
Essential Functions:
- Assist and support participants in completing daily living activities. This includes but is not limited to, personal hygiene, homemaking, money management, and socialization.
- Assist, train or provide personal care.
- Monitor and support participants to maintain health and safety.
- Administer medications and document correctly on medication logs.
- Maintain accurate documentation of health, safety and program information.
- Assist with coordination and/or provide transportation for participants.
- Attend in-service training and meetings, as requested, to maintain or improve knowledge, skills, and operations of SNI.
